About this position
The IT Instructional Designer is a software education expert. They implement processes that support the organization’s commitment to education. This role is responsible for the development of highly effective training programs, including the design of training documentation and collateral (to include tip sheets, quick start guides, classroom training presentations, training agendas, eLearning modules, Upgrade demonstrations, user feedback reviews, and application competencies), in collaboration with the IT Classroom Education Specialists. This position maintains their applications’ training environment by building and maintaining training patients, users, functionality, personalization, etc. The IT Instructional Designer completes LMS course creation, participates in application testing to demonstrate quality assurance and provides user support for applications as needed. This role works closely with the IT Classroom Education Specialists to ensure effective training delivery. They support the Classroom Education Specialists in synthesizing changes and integrating them into the training plans.
The IT Instructional Designer will have focused areas of expertise, either applications or modules within an application. Focus areas include: patient access applications, revenue cycle applications, clinical applications, ancillary department applications and/or administrative or corporate applications. Instructional Designers will also serve as administrators of applications utilized by the organization for education purposes (i.e., organizational LMS system, training content management system).
Requirements
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, healthcare, education, computer science or a minimum of 3 years creating training materials or curriculum in a preceptor, mentor, or training position. • Healthcare background highly preferred • Epic proficiency and/or certification in focused areas highly preferred
Experience
Experience • Minimum of 3 years' experience within a complex information technology environment with a focus on application use and support, • Minimum of 3 years utilizing desktop applications (Windows, MS-Office, internet, e-mail, calendar scheduling) and collaboration tools, such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx, etc. • Familiarity with use of LMS systems (ex: HealthStream) for course assignment and classroom registration/attendance tracking is preferred. • Experience in maintaining trainee engagement in classroom settings. • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, instructional design, and adult learning principles required. • Experience in creation of training plans and documentation is highly preferred. • Minimum 3 years' experience within a healthcare setting preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization. • Demonstrated small and large group presentation/facilitation skills. • Knowledge of workflow/process investigation and documentation. Excellent classroom management skills, including the ability to adapt training methodology on the fly to meet trainee needs. • Strong problem solving and organizational skills • Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently, as well as collaborate effectively with others to meet common goals. • Strong demonstrated customer service acumen.
