About this position
Supervises ALS, BLS and Wheelchair employees, coordinates the daily operations of the department, and assists in the operation of other areas as appropriate. In addition, the incumbent also functions and fulfills the duties and responsibilities of an Emergency Paramedic. Patients may include: neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Collaborates with the Equipment and Inventory Supervisor to ensure an adequate supply and functional equipment inventory is maintained in all vehicles and substations either through personal inspection or delegation. Promptly handles consumer complaints. Maintains and organizes department statistics, distributes and files department documents and correspondence as necessary. Coordinates vehicle rotation and maintenance with the vehicle manager and/or mechanic. Assures that all patient medical charts and billing information is collected on a daily basis. Monitors crews' functions at scenes by responding to various calls to assist them with medical care. Acts as a representative of North Memorial Health Care and North Memorial Ambulance Service in all aspects of public relations. Promote and market scheduled services provided by North Memorial Ambulance Service.
Supervisor Air Care, must live within 100 miles of home base.
Requirements
Education
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. • Successfully completed Paramedic training program from an accredited institution required. • Bachelor's degree preferred in health related field preferred.
Experience
Experience • Field Training Officer experience preferred. • Two to four years supervisor/management experience preferred, including experience with employee relations, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills. • Unit Specific Air Care: Flight experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Knowledgeable of advanced medical practices, procedures, and equipment as integrated into the area of EMS and the job of a paramedic. • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, make decisions, and handle conflict during emergency situations and work independently. • Demonstrated Total Quality Management, leadership, organization and management skills. • Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Licensure/Certification
• State of MN EMT-P certification required • Current BLS certification • Current ACLS certification • Valid Class D driver's license in state of residency with an acceptable driving record • Nationally Registered Paramedic • MN and WI Paramedic Certification • Current PALS Certification • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification • Certified Flight Paramedic (FPC) within 15 months of hire • Maximum weight of 215 pounds in full gear
