Our health system encompasses two hospital locations in Robbinsdale and Maple Grove as well as a network of 25 clinics which includes 13 primary clinics, 6 specialty clinics, 4 urgent care/urgency centers and emergency care offerings covering five counties. About this position
The Sr. Communications Consultant is a trusted and experienced communication professional, always ready to support any communications challenge where needed and appropriate. This role supports leaders and team members across North Memorial Health through strategic communications counsel on critical business initiatives, creating plans, crafting communications, and advising key business partners to align, strengthen and drive growth in our business. Healthcare is complex, so this role brings mastery in streamlining and simplifying difficult subject matter to ensure things make sense for all – or at least the intended audience. During implementation, this individual draws upon new and existing internal communication channels to engage team members in key organizational information and ensure they feel connected to North Memorial Health, informed about their work and strategically aligned with the direction of our growing organization.
Requirements
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or related field or equivalent experience
Experience
Experience • Minimum of five years of experience in internal and/or external communications or corporate communications required, preferably in a healthcare environment. • Experience advising executives and senior leaders on communications approaches and building communication plans. • Experience working in complex corporate or consulting environment where translation and simplification were critical to success. • Writing (AP style), editing, proofreading and production management experience. • Demonstrated experience with digital content development and distribution.
Accountabilities:
- Lead strategic communication efforts for critical business initiatives by creating plans, crafting messaging, and advising key business partners.
- Drives the development and execution of measurable, results-driven internal and external communication programs.
- Identifies opportunities for efficiency in work processes and innovative approaches to completing scope of work.
- Takes pride in colorfully understanding the audience mindset/voice of patient perspective that stakeholders are seeking to connect with to drive and inform strategies and tactics.
- Contributes to the strategy and execution of internal communication channels, including insightful and engaging internal news stories, informational articles and other written materials that support organizational goals.
- Provides guidance and counsel to internal clients to determine communication needs and works with leaders to develop and implement internal communications plans.
- In partnership with communication team leadership, key internal stakeholders and PR agency partners, support proactive and reactive PR efforts, storytelling and other strategic external communication initiatives.
- Supports crisis communication needs and Public Information Officer (PIO) role on a rotating basis with other members of the communication team.
- Writes, edits and proofreads copy and content for a variety of print, broadcast and online applications.
- Works closely with Marketing, CX and outside partners to manage aligned communications, production of materials, etc.
- Ensures compliance with brand identity standard for internal materials, through partnership with Marketing.
- Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals driven by the strategic plan.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Excellent writing and editing skills and attention to detail. • Experience with various email marketing platforms (mail chimp preferred). • Ability to work with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, along with basic knowledge of HTML/CSS. • Creative storyteller with strong verbal and written communication skills. • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects concurrently. • Ability to manage complex projects from planning to implementation.
