About this position
To assist the pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of both intravenous and oral medications to oncology customers. The admixture technician will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in a manner consistent with the rules and regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy. The admixture technician will monitor medication inventory and other related supplies.
What we’ll expect from you
• Prepares oral medications, IV solutions, and other sterile injectable products. • Maintains pharmacy automated dispensing machines. • Delivers medications and assures medication security is maintained. • Reviews all chemotherapy labels for completeness of information and prior to medication admixture. • Calculates dosages to be verified by the registered pharmacist. • Inventories all medications, including controlled drugs, and maintain records. • Maintains current drug information and MSDS sheets. • Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemotherapy or non chemotherapy IV's. • Cleans chemotherapy hood daily and in between IV admixturing as needed. • Keeps accurate temperature logs and other information required on the monthly ambulatory monitor checklist. • Assists with inventory control of medications, including ordering supplies and medications, stocking received items and establishing appropriate PAR levels of items. • Assists with oral prescription order entry, prescription filling, and triaging billing for retail prescriptions • Provides quality customer service through helping customers in clinic, over the phone, and through delivering retail prescriptions to appropriate treatment rooms • Completes required documentation for billing purposes and customer records for both IV and oral preparations • Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals. • The team member is accountable to demonstrate proficiency for the skills outlined in the appropriate position skills list. • The team member is accountable to maintain skill proficiency, including improvement where deemed necessary, and upgrading any additional or new skills on the appropriate position skills list. • Recognizes and complies with legal, regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility. • Understands and follows principles and standards as outlined in North Memorial's Corporate Code of Conduct. • Protects customer and team member privacy and only accesses customer and/or team member related information as needed to perform job duties. • Reports violations or areas of concern to supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer via established methods of communication.

Education
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. • Diploma from a pharmacy technician program or enrolled in a pharmacy program preferred.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Three years of experience in a pharmacy with IV preparation and handling skills. Oncology background preferred. • Computer and keyboard skills • Knowledge of pharmaceutical and related medical terminology • Aseptic technique
