About this position
Microscopically evaluates (screens and interprets) gynecological and nongynecological cytologic preparations according to laboratory procedures and workload policies. Communicates abnormal or significant findings to the pathologist for review and reporting of cytologic results to meet the needs of adolescent, adult, and geriatric customers.

Education
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university required. • Successful completion of a 12 month CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program required.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Minimum of one year current cytology experience required. • Able to microscopically evaluate (screens and interprets) gynecological and nongynecological cytologic preparations according to laboratory procedures and workload policies. • Able to make diagnostic decisions about normal versus benign, atypical, and abnormal cellular changes, inflammation, infection, and hormonal changes as well as decisions about specimen adequacy. • Able to accurately screen an average o60-80 slides per day. • Ability to operate laboratory computer system as appropriate. • Able to assist pathologists and radiologists during fine needle aspiration procedures as needed, Includes smear preparation, fixation and staining. • Demonstrated leadership, organization, and communication skills.
Licensure/Certification(s) Mandatory
CT (ASCP) certification required within 6 months of hire and maintained as a condition of continued employment - NMHC Standard
