About this position
Performs data entry, basic computer operations, specimen collection, processing, and basic laboratory procedures.
What we’ll expect from you
• Performs computer data entry, result lookup, generates laboratory customer test reports. • Processes specimens using established policies and procedures, follows infection control policies consistently. • Performs limited customer testing following appropriate policies and procedures. • Answers and resolves telephone inquiries in a professional manner. • Performs specimen collections according to department policies and procedures. • Assists in the direction of the workflow of the phlebotomy staff. • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients. • Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals. • The team member is accountable to demonstrate proficiency for the skills outlined in the appropriate position skills list. • The team member is accountable to maintain skill proficiency, including improvement where deemed necessary, and upgrading any additional or new skills on the appropriate position skills list. • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients. • Recognizes and complies with legal, regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility. • Understands and follows principles and standards as outlined in North Memorial's Corporate Code of Conduct. • Protects customer and team member privacy and only accesses customer and/or team member related information as needed to perform job duties. • Reports violations or areas of concern to supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer via established methods of communication.

Education
• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Completion of an accredited program for Medical Laboratory Assistants or Medical Assistants. OR • Minimum of one year current laboratory experience in a clinic or hospital setting. OR • Completion of a course in medical terminology and at least two semesters of college level biology and/or chemistry. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to handle stressful situations. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple departments
