DescriptionThe Operating Room Nurse Manager supports, facilitates, role models, and operationalizes the vision of NMHC, the nursing philosophy, the caring framework, and uses the NMHC assets of respect, pride, teamwork, accountability, and communication to promote remarkable care. The OR Manager plans, monitors, evaluates and actively supports the surgical team and is accountable for customer service, internal operations, culture and learning, and the financial and professional performance of the area(s) they manage. The OR Manager is responsible for providing leadership in advancing the practice of nursing, collegial care, strategic service group planning, and continuous quality improvement for the nursing service provided. Plans, manages, and evaluates the daily activities involved in the effective and efficient management of the operative schedule. Makes staffing assignments in conjunction with service group managers and based on patient, surgeon, and anesthesiology requirements and staff development needs. Assures staff assignments are appropriate to the skill level of personnel and provides support and clinical intervention when necessary to nursing teams to enhance patient flow. Maintains active communication to ensure schedule progression and issue resolution. Participates in schedule preparation and works collaboratively with the anesthesiologist in charge and the surgery program medical director to enhance patient throughput. Proactively reviews future schedules with the Customer service manager to address scheduling adjustments and coordinates advanced schedule situations with respective service group managers and anesthesiologists.
Advocates on behalf of patients, families, and staff by using divisional and organizational processes to address issues and foster an environment that promotes caring and fiscal stewardship. Coordinates services and establishes an evidence-based nursing practice for the unit/area and oversees the staffing, scheduling, and capital budgetary processes. Delegates responsibilities that are appropriate and ensures that staff practices in accordance with licensure/regulation requirements, as well as within their educational preparation and professional practice experience. Collaborates with other departmental leaders and members of the surgical team to establish priorities for resource allocation and develops a budget for the provision of services to include evaluation of the staffing schedule to meet departmental and operational goals.

RequirementsBasic Qualifications:
Education
 Graduate of an accredited nursing program approved by the MN Board of Nursing
 Bachelor’s degree required or willingness to purse and complete a degree within 4 years.
Experience
 Two to Three years of progressive leadership or management experience preferably as a manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 Ability to direct others and negotiate for desired results.
 Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to coach and develop
staff
 Is able to work well as part of the leadership team.
 Demonstrates decision-making and problem-solving skills.
 Is clinically competent in the OR.
 Demonstrates knowledge of computer systems and software
License RequirementCurrent RN licensure in State of Minnesota, or CRNA - State Requirement

BLS Certification or obtained within 6 months of hire - NMHC Standard
