About this position
As a pivotal member of the North Memorial Health Medical Staff Office, the Medical Staff Coordinator drives the success of our operations through a dynamic and engaging role. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to key areas such as regulatory compliance, credentialing and privileging, medical staff governance, performance management, bylaws and policy management, clinical education, membership status, communications, annual dues, and medical staff events. This work is critical to maintaining the integrity and quality of our healthcare services, ensuring that all providers meet the necessary standards to deliver safe and effective care. This role will be at the forefront of analyzing and crafting impactful presentations and reports on practitioner performance, ensuring data is insightful and well-structured. By building strong, collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams, this role will play a crucial role in advancing our system initiatives and achieving organizational goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate strong working relationships with executive leadership, clinical and operational leaders, and the medical staff.
- Ensure compliance with medical staff bylaws, policies, accreditation standards, and state laws.
- Support medical staff committees including but not limited to agendas, minutes, and attendance.
- Review and analyze credentialing files for committee recommendations to include recognizing, investigating, and validating discrepancies and adverse information obtained.
- Track and monitor the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation process for regulatory compliance.
- Analyze and prepare presentations and reports regarding practitioner performance improvement to ensure quality/competence data is clear, concise, and structured.
- Coordinate status changes (resignations, leaves, category changes) with leadership.
- Design and improve medical staff office processes, governing documents, and policies.
- Assist with clinical privilege development and maintain the privilege database.
- Distribute Board Approval and welcome letters.
- Update provider contact information ensuring data integrity.
- Coordinate new medical staff orientation and related materials.
- Communicate new appointments to clinical departments and stakeholders.
- Manage medical staff dues, fees, and finances.
- Coordinate medical staff officer elections.
- Organize medical staff engagement and recognition events.
- Distribute medical staff rosters and reports as needed.
- Coordinate annual training for medical staff.
- Perform other duties to support organizational goals.
- Demonstrate and maintain proficiency in required skills, improving and upgrading as necessary.
- Recognizes and complies with legal regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility.
- Understands and follows principles and standards as outlined in North Memorial’s Corporate Code of Conduct.
- Protects customer and team member privacy and only accesses customer and/or team member related information as needed to perform job duties.
- Reports violations or areas of concern to supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer via established methods of communication.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in health care related field or business, or three years’ experience in lieu of degree
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Three or more years of experience in the areas of medical credentialing/privileging, health plan enrollment, health plan contracting, medical coding/billing, or other health care industry environment
- Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards, and other applicable regulations as they relate to the medical staff.
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no direct supervision.
- Detail-oriented, resourceful, self-starter and team player who works well alone or in a group
- Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict in a positive manner. Has an awareness of, responds to, and considers the needs, feelings and capabilities of others.
- Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience.

Licensure/Certification(s) Preferred:
CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist)
CPMSM (Certified Professional Medical Services Management)
