About this position
The Telecommunicator will be required to triage all calls received in the Communication Center and accurately document required information. The Telecommunicator will also provide approriate and timely Pre-Arrival Instructions to customers that require them. The Telecommunicator will work closely with the EMD/Dispatcher to insure that transportation requests are handled efficiently.
Requirements
Education
• High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) • Medical terminology course work or equivalent preferred
Experience
Experience • (Must meet a minimum of one requirement below) • 1 year experience working in a medical setting with emphasis on incoming multi-line phones ,triaging of calls, patient intake, or appointment scheduling • OR • 2 years experience working in customer service with an emphasis on multi-line phones in a call center environment • OR • Completion of the Emergency Telecommunicator (ETC) Course and Certification through International Academy of Emergency Dispatchers (IAED)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Requires the ability to multi-task, problem solve and make effective decisions under pressure. • Requires the ability to work independently and in fast paced, high intensity team environment • Requires the ability to work effectively with other hospitals' staff, public service agencies, peers, co-workers and the general public.
Licensure/Certification
Current EMD certification through Medical Priority Dispatch or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire
