About this position

Provides staff development for clinical staff and possesses expert knowledge for providing learning opportunities that ensure competency and enhance job performance. Provides consultation to leaders to define the expected outcomes and then works collaboratively to design and deliver learning focused on application. Assists with managing the learning process to achieve expected results, which includes driving the follow-through, deploying active support, and documenting outcomes.

 

What we’ll expect from you

   • Provides consultation to leaders to assist with ensuring staff competency and development.

  • Will support perioperative and surgical services departments

     • Designs the complete learning experience using state-of–the-art education methods.
    • Aligns education activities with strategic initiatives of the organization.
    • Facilitates and/or provides education that supports a climate conducive to adult     learning and good relationships with learners.
   • Demonstrates effective communication with leaders, staff, and other key customer  groups

• Effectively uses resources for providing orientation and staff development, participates in efforts to minimize cost, and prevent unnecessary duplication.
• Achieves desired clinical quality outcomes through staff development and enhances the effectiveness of customer care.
• Role models and provides education that supports staff behaviors that are consistent with delivering the customer and family an experience that reinforces the organization's mission and assets.
• Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.
• The team member is accountable to demonstrate proficiency for the skills outlined in the appropriate position skills list.
• The team member is accountable to maintain skill proficiency, including improvement where deemed necessary, and upgrading any additional or new skills on the appropriate position skills list. • Recognizes and complies with legal, regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility.
• Understands and follows principles and standards as outlined in North Memorial's Corporate Code of Conduct.
• Protects customer and team member privacy and only accesses customer and/or team member related information as needed to perform job duties.
• Reports violations or areas of concern to supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer via established methods of communication.

Education

• BA or BS degree in clinical field
• Master's degree preferred   

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • Must have minimal 3 years of experience in the OR
  • Obtain Perioperative 101 (AORN) instructor level within 6 months

    • Experience in staff development preferred

• Evidence of teaching skills or ability to facilitate learning
   • Computer skills
   • Communication skills      

Licensure/Certification(s) Mandatory

     • Current RN Licensure in the State of Minnesota for RN Resource Educators
     - State Requirement

Licensure/Certification(s) Mandatory where Applicable

    

Licensure/Certification(s) Preferred

• Certification in specialty field
- NMHC Preferred
